Oct 21, 2010 Yahoo UK & Ireland Answers. Im running it on windows xp home edition. Does anyone have a clue what could be going wrong? Best answer gets the 10. Update: my router is a thompson on plusnet. Please help me with Wi-fi on Acer Aspire One (ZG5) running XP and Ubuntu?
Helloe, my friend got the new Aspire One ZG5 based. But now thanks to a virus, the MCAfee that's used isn't helping at all, it just detects and deletes the infected and(or) system files! There are two partitions: one is 149 GB (single active drive, i.e. C) and the other 8GB is for the system drive. At first we wanted to see if we could hook up an external optical drive to start installing Windows over again, but I remembered that if 8GB is kept aside, it must be used to sort of repair Windows or at least install it over again, right? What do you advice we should do? And is it possible to hook up an external DVD writer to the lap top?
Any suggestion on your part, will be of great help to us. Thanks, waiting for your reply. Some acer netbooks with the solid stae drives ssd do not have the recovery e recovery option. Use the recovery dvd which came with it.both the linux and windows are dvds not cd rom.so it will only work on an external dvd drive.i bought a cd rom one first,,no luck,,got dvd one.works smack on, put recovery disc in dvd drive after you connect dvd drive to netbook.turn off netbook.when the acer empowering sign comes up,press f2 scroll to the right.boot option.change the order of the boot to usb drive, do this by going down to it,then press f5 till its on the top.then press f10 to save and exit. Netbook will boot from dvd drive.follow on screen instructions to reload windows or linux, its the same for both.windows has 2 discs start off with the system disc, then it tells you when to change disc. The linux and xp revovery discs are dvd not cd rom.remember this.ext cd rom wont boot from.dvd will.
God bless you man, I looked around the net for around 6 hours to see how I could format/restore my Acer Aspire One because of the stupid Win32/Virut.NBP virus! And this did the trick! I didn't even know I had this on my Netbook! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOREVER! This didn't only help me now, but it'll help me in the future if something similar happens again, not to mention that my aunt has the same PC and she knows nothing about PC's, this will be useful for her too! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! Mbot silkroad download.
I FOUND THE STUFF OF ALT-F10 ON THE FIRST PAGES IN THE MANUAL, MOST PEOPLE HERE HAS SW PROBLEMS SO I REALLY CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE SO EXCITED TO APPLY A DUMMY SOLUTION ANYONE COULD DO. For damaged registry problems (windows system32 config system.) if you don't want to reinstall (with the dummy solution.) all the os, I suppose you need another machine to make all the stuff but at least having fat32 file system you should do it without many problems. There are many ways to do it, but if I were you, the easier way for me could be make a bootable USB (there are free softwares around to do it, mine is from HP site), in DOS I would go in Systemvolumeinformation folder, take a look to the rp folders, take a random folder from the newers ones (but not the least), copy registry_machine_system_or_something_like_that stored in it in the windows system32 config folder, rename system.
